Osimhen FURIOUS: Striker believes Napoli ruined transfer

Victor Osimhen has reached boiling point with Napoli, believing the club have ruined his opportunity to complete a Deadline Day move to Chelsea.

Osimhen has been the story of the summer and the saga appears set to go to the last minutes of the transfer window.

Chelsea have been following the striker for months, and after Arsenal and PSG dropped their interest in the player, who Napoli were demanding €130 million for, the Blues are the last European club standing.

There is also the possibility that he could move to Al-Ahly, yet with Ivan Toney seemingly destined to move instead to the Saudi Pro League team, Osimhen’s future hangs in the balance.

The 25-year-old, meanwhile, believes that Napoli have sabotaged his chance of a big move according to L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi.

Taking to X, he reports: “Victor Osimhen, whose transfer to Chelsea is very difficult, has been very angry with his club in recent minutes.

“The attacker believes that he will not leave for London, which is his preference.

“All parties are trying to find a last-ditch solution.”

RMC’s Fabrice Hawkins reports that Osimhen, meanwhile, has knocked back a €155,000-a-week offer for Chelsea, with talks continuing.

Osimhen in limbo

Napoli, in particular, need to find an answer to this problem, having already signed Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in a deal worth €30m.

The Serie A club cannot afford the wages of Osimhen, which come to around €11m per year, when they are not in the Champions League.

There are a matter of hours left for the Nigeria international to move to Chelsea, else the Saudi Pro League, where he will receive a lucrative contract, is liable to be his only genuine solution. The transfer market there remains open for another five weeks, yet even Al-Ahli may not have space in their squad for him.
