Victor Osimhen’s transfer saga has been one of endless twists, and there could be another on the horizon as the Napoli striker prepares to make his move to Galatasaray a permanent one.
Numerous Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, have all been associated with the prolific Nigeria striker.
But now there is the possibility of a shock move to Champions League winners PSG, where Osimhen would reunite with sporting director Luis Campos, who initially signed him at Lille.
Although the 26-year-old seems close to signing for Galatasaray, L’Equipe reports that Campos is in contact with the forward.
PSG tried to sign Osimhen last summer but were ultimately priced out of a move by Napoli. Now the striker’s release price has dropped to €75 million, another offer at the eleventh hour has not been ruled out at this stage.
The European champions could be in the market for a new No.9 this summer, but their exact intentions in that area of the field have not been made public.
Their long-standing interest in Osimhen, however, is clear.
In addition to the Napoli striker, Campos also maintains contact with AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, who is another player he previously worked with at Lille.
Are Man Utd still a factor in Osimhen transfer?
Recently, rumours have emerged that Manchester United could make a late move for Osimhen, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this will not be the case.
“There are some reports about Man Utd hijacking the deal for Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray – this is not true,” Romano explained.
“Osimhen is getting closer to joining Galatasaray – they will pay a €40m fixed fee immediately and €35m in instalments over a few years.
“Napoli have to give the final approval to this bid, with bank guarantees, but Galatasaray are getting closer and they remain confident to sign Osimhen, with new talks to take place this week.
“Man Utd are not part of this story. Galatasaray are giving Osimhen an important salary of €16m net per season and Man Utd were never going to be at the table for those numbers.”
