Osimhen had been linked with a transfer away from Napoli all summer, but after a move to Chelsea broke down on Deadline Day and it became apparent that interest from the Saudi Pro League would not be followed up on, it seemed the Nigeria international striker would be stuck in Naples.

Faced with the prospect of being frozen out by Antonio Conte at Napoli, Osimhen has accepted a loan move to Galatasaray, who will pay his wages for the duration of the season.

Chelsea still a possibility

Reports have previously indicated that there is a break clause in the deal, which could potentially see Osimhen depart the club during the January transfer window.

Romano has previously confirmed that Chelsea, for example, are still very much interested in the forward, despite his rejection in the summer transfer window, when he was reputedly offered €100,000 per week less than he wanted at Stamford Bridge.

PSG and Arsenal are other sides who have been closely associated with the forward. PSG even had personal terms agreed with him on a deal worth €12m per year, but as they were unable to agree a transfer fee with Napoli, the move fell through.

Romano has also outlined the possibility of Osimhen signing a new contract with Napoli, with any deal potentially having a €70m release clause inserted in it – down from the €130m price that the Serie A side were insisting on previously.
