Victor Osimhen is still favouring a move to PSG over Chelsea, according to reports in Italy, France and Germany.

The Napoli striker’s future is no closer to being resolved. Though there has been significant movement in recent days, little in the way of actual progress has been made.

Saudi giants Al-Ahli launched an unsuccessful attempt at signing the Nigerian which was publically shot down by his agent, while there have been claims that Chelsea and Napoli have moved closer in their talks over Osimhen.

Napoli were ready to accept Al-Ahli’s offer of around €65 million, which goes to show just how desperate the Italians are to offload a player with a €130m release clause.

Osimhen himself is pushing for a move, but he does not want to head to the Middle East just yet. Indeed, his snubbing of Al-Ahli illustrates that any potential move ultimately hinges on the player.

Osimhen wants PSG

Although Chelsea have spent lavishly once more this summer, they are surely in a position to find €65m to spend on Osimhen and the goals he guarantees. The bigger issue is the agreement with the player, which has as yet eluded the Blues.

Chelsea would like to offer an initial loan, while Osimhen has no intention of accepting this. Moreover, Chelsea have sought to lower their wage structure in recent years, so the striker would have to take a pay cut – another no-go.

Already at the end of July, Sky Germany reported that Osimhen was still waiting for PSG rather than Chelsea. The player had agreed terms with the French champions earlier this summer and was hoping that they would return to the negotiations after initially baulking at Napoli’s demands.

Now, both RMC Sport from France and Gazzetta dello Sport from Italy are reporting the same. Osimhen still wants PSG, the French capital is his preferred destination.

The latter outlet also suggests that “something could move from Paris in the next few days,” implying that PSG could yet reignite their interest after learning of Osimhen’s reduced price and in the wake of Goncalo Ramos’ injury.
