Nadiem Amiri will miss Germany’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg and Slovakia due groin problems, the German Football Association announced on Monday.
The Mainz midfielder will be replaced by Assan Ouedraogo, who was originally called up to the U21 squad.
After an injury-plagued debut season at RB Leipzig, Ouédraogo has broken through and established himself as a key figure in the club’s central midfield.
The former Schalke 04 player has made two appearances for the U21 national team.
