Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has lauded the performance of Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice after the recent 2-0 Premier League win at Burnley.
The Gunners picked up a fifth-straight league win after a commanding display against the Clarets at Turf Moor. Viktor Gyokeres and Declan Rice were the goalscorers.
Aside from his goal, Rice played a big part in the opening goal with a sublime corner from the right flank. He was also superb defensively, winning nine duels alongside five tackles.
The England international likewise made nine recoveries. He was unsurprisingly handed the man of the game after the resounding win.
While picking his Premier League Team of the Week, Shearer said that Rice was outstanding against the Clarets after a brilliant all-round display.
He said via Premierleague.com: “An outstanding performance. Rice showed his class with a goal and a brilliant all-round display.”
Rice has evolved into a quality box-to-box midfielder at Arsenal. He delivered another assist in the 3-0 win over Slavia Prague yesterday.
He has bagged two goals and five assists in 16 games this term.
