Palhinha about his future at Bayern: “I won’t rest until I establish myself!”

João Palhinha comments on his future at Bayern Munich on the Portuguese news channel “Canal 11”. He also revealed a secret dream destination of teammate Eric Dier.

After a very difficult first season in Munich, João Palhinha has commented on his future at the Bavarian club on the Portuguese news channel “Canal 11”.

“I won’t rest until I establish myself at Bayern. I’ve done it at every club. When I was at Sporting, I never thought I’d turn things around when I went to SC Braga [on loan]. I hope I’ll get that chance in Munich.”

Palhinha has missed key phases of the season due to injury and only featured in 24 games for der Rekordmeister – mostly coming on from the bench.

Palhinha came to Munich as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. While he was the dream signing of former Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel, he still wanted to take the next step and join Bayern without Tuchel being there anymore.

The 29-year-old has confirmed to stay at Bayern until the end of his contract in June 2028; afterwards he’d like to return to his home country of Portugal:

“I want to fulfill my contract with Bayern. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I want to come back and I will come back [to Portugal]. I will give preference to Sporting, because it’s the club I love the most.”

Not only the Portuguese international dreams of a return to Sporting Lisbon: his current teammate Eric Dier, who will join Monaco for the 2025/26 season, apparently also wanted to return to the Portuguese club:

“He [Eric Dier] signed for Monaco, but he really wanted to return to Sporting. He speaks very good Portuguese, even better than Raphaël Guerreiro [who was born and raised in France]. People at Bayern were shocked, because he speaks good Portuguese.”

Maybe these two soon-to-be former teammates will once again see each other at their dream destination in the future.
