Raffaele Palladino insists that he is not fussed about his own future, rather the future of Fiorentina and their results on the pitch as he and his Viola side look to overturn a 3-2 deficit against Panathinaikos in the Conference League on Thursday.
Fiorentina enjoyed a decent start in the first half of the 2024-25 campaign, and had looked to mount a charge for the Champions League positions earlier in the season, but have now lost five of their last six matches, which makes a top four finish and progression in the Conference League a bit tricky.
Palladino admits that mistakes have been made, but adds that is is ‘normal’ for mistakes to happen on a daily basis. He also acknowledges the fact that Fiorentina’s recent run of results have not been up to scratch.
Palladino: ‘I make mistakes every day, that’s normal’

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, the Fiorentina boss said: “The results are not what we hoped for, that’s clear for everyone to see. The data speaks for itself, we’ve had issues over the last two months. Even with injuries, which are not an excuse, we can do more.
“After the game on Sunday, I said what I felt during the match. We were in the game in the first half against a strong team like Napoli. A good first half with some mistakes. And in the second, we had courage and personality, putting Napoli in danger.
“I also expected a physical drop having played on Thursday, but there wasn’t one. That’s why I said I like this team, I see the growth.”

Asked if he is willing to admit that mistakes have been made in recent weeks, Palladino responded: “Absolutely, I make mistakes every day and I think that’s normal. I’m here to grow and improve and take Fiorentina as high as possible.
“I’m trying to do my best, I’m always at Viola Park, I give my best for the boys and the same goes the other way around. The results have not been satisfactory, I understand that, but tomorrow could be the turning point in this run. Games like this, getting through to the next round, it gives you momentum, that’s what we’re looking for.”
Palladino: ‘My future is not important, Fiorentina’s is’
Palladino was also asked if he fears for his job given Fiorentina’s recent run of losses, but the coach insists that there are more important things to think about for now.
“My future is not important right now, Fiorentina’s is. The present and the future. Not that of Palladino, of Fiorentina.
“I only think about the good for Fiorentina, maximum concentration on the team, the club and what needs to be done. Coaches are judged on results, that’s our job. Bur for now, my future is irrelevant.”
