Pascal Groß has no plans to retire yet but won’t extend his stay with Borussia Dortmund unless he continues to feel needed on the pitch.

At the age of 34, Pascal Groß has no plans to retire from football anytime soon.

“I haven’t thought about quitting even once so far,” the Borussia Dortmund midfielder told Ruhr Nachrichten, adding that he feels “in top physical condition” and is still “having great fun” on the pitch.

“What’s important for me is that I bring the necessary level and can make an impact. As long as I feel I can help the team, I’m open (to keep playing)”.

With Jobe Bellingham’s arrival, Groß faces even tougher competition for playing time in central midfield.

He welcomes the challenge, saying the competition “keeps things exciting.”

However, if he eventually becomes surplus to requirements, Groß doesn’t want to stay at Dortmund just to cash in every month.

“I wouldn’t stay at Dortmund just to get another contract and make a lot of money. That’s clear,” emphasized Groß, whose current deal expires next year.
