After starting Wolfsburg’s first two games of the season, Dženan Pejčinović has come off the bench in the past three matches.

However, with Jonas Wind doubtful due to a calf issue, the 20-year-old striker is set to return to the starting eleven against Augsburg this Saturday.

“We have three strikers with different qualities,” Wolfsburg coach Paul Simonis said at at a press conference on Thursday when asked about Pejčinović’s chances of playing.

“For this game, Pejčinović is the best option,” he added and went on to praise the youngster’s development.

“Pejčinović had a good pre-season. He’s a player who can perform with high intensity. We love that.”

Simonis also revealed that Andreas Skov Olsen is expected to return to the squad. However, as the 25-year-old isn’t ready to start yet, his Danish compatriot Adam Daghim will get the nod in the starting lineup.

“We think Andreas Skov Olsen will be in the squad again. However, he is not at 100 percent, so Adam Daghim will play.”
