Pisa are on the verge of signing ex-Napoli and Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol, having reached an agreement with the Spanish centre-back during their latest meeting last night.
Newly promoted Serie A side Pisa are set to sign Spanish centre-back Albiol on a free transfer.
Albiol set for Pisa move
Albiol’s contract with Villarreal expired this past June, and the experienced defender has now agreed to return to Serie A.
Sources with direct knowledge of the matter tell me that an agreement between Pisa and Albiol was reached during a meeting in Versilia (Tuscany) last night.
Albiol has agreed to sign a one-year contract with an option for a further campaign.
Albiol will return to Serie A
Football Italia exclusively reported Pisa’s interest in Albiol earlier this week.
Albiol spent six years at Napoli, making 180 Serie A appearances with the Partenopei.
He won one Coppa Italia and one Italian Supercup during his time at the Stadio San Paolo, now Stadio Maradona.
