Player Ratings: Bologna 1-1 Juventus – Thuram hits again, dominating Lucumí

Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumí is Football Italia’s MOTM in a home 1-1 draw against Juventus.

Bologna and Juventus shared the spoils at the Dall’Ara on Sunday, producing a 1-1 draw that leaves the race for a Champions League placement wide open.

Best Bologna player: Lucumi 8 – The Colombian centre-back showed why he’s one of the most wanted centre-backs with Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United said to be interested in securing his services. He won eight ground duels from nine (via Sofascore) and three more in the air. With his high press, he nullified Juventus strikers, especially in the second half, before they could even turn towards the goal.

Lowest Bologna rating: Skorupski 5 – Thuram’s shot on target didn’t seem too hard to handle. Juventus took the lead with that, leaving Bologna in trouble in the first half.

Bologna coach Italiano: 6 – Bologna did enough to justify a draw, but should have created more given their possession dominance. They remain one point below Juventus, but Lazio and Roma are getting closer. Crazy race for the top four.

Best Juventus player: Thuram 7 – The Frenchman scored the opening goal at the Dall’Ara and was much more than a mere central midfielder for the Bianconeri. Fourth Serie A goal this season. He touched the ball everywhere on the pitch, from Juventus’ defensive box to their attacking half. Looked tired in the second half, so he didn’t have the best passing accuracy (just 67%).

Lowest Juventus rating: Kolo Muani 5 – Wasn’t really a threat to Bologna’s defence. Fought hard to find space all over the pitch, but wasn’t present enough inside the box and lost possession 18 times. Alberto Costa deserves the same rating, having missed a big chance, all alone against Skorupski, in the second half.

Juventus coach: Tudor 6—With Gatti, Bremer, Cabal, Kelly, and Gatti injured, Tudor had few options in defence and don’t forget Yildiz and Vlahovic in attack. Cambiaso was also forced to be substituted in the second half. The Bianconeri played pretty well in the first half, and their second goal was disallowed for a tight offside after the break. Juventus allowed Bologna to take possession (65% to 35%), but had more expected goals (0.45 to 0.70). They also showed their determination and grit with 19 fouls against Bologna’s six.
