Milan fell to a 2-1 defeat in their 2025-26 season opener against Cremonese, with a wonder goal from Federico Bonazzoli giving the newly promoted side the three points.

Milan 1-2 Cremonese Player Ratings

Milan: Maignan 5; Pavlovic 7, Gabbia 5.5, Tomori 6.5 (Chukwueze 6); Estupinan 7 (Jimenez 6) , Loftus-Cheek 6, Modric 7.5 (Jashari 6.5), Fofana 6, Saelemaekers 6.5; Gimenez 5.5, Pulisic 6

Best Milan Player: Modric – Age is clearly but a number. Experienced former Real Madrid and Ballon d’Or winning midfielder Luka Modric was the pick of the bunch for a disappointing Rossoneri this evening. The 39-year-old helped dictate the tempo in the opening hour before his stamina got the better of him and he was substituted in the 74th minute.

Lowest rating: Maignan – Linked heavily away from Milan this summer, Chelsea target Maignan had a night to forget in between the posts for Milan. The Frenchman faced just three shots on goal tonight and despite there being not much he could do for Bonazzoli’s outstanding winner, he will hope to be better moving forward.

Milan coach: Allegri 5.5 – Made the correct substitutions but the team were unable to capitalise on their dominance. A disappointing return to Serie A for the former Juventus head coach.

Cremonese: Audero 6.5; Terracciano 7, Baschirotto 7, Bianchetti 6.5 (Ceccherini N/a); Pezzella 6.5, Vandeputte 6 (Payero 5.5), Grassi 6.5 (Bondo 6), Collocolo 6.5, Zerbin 7.5; Okereke 5.5 (Sanabria 6), Bonazzoli 7 (De Luca N/A)

Best Player: Zerbin – The Napoli loanee was a constant threat on the counter down the right hand side and picked up an assist for his efforts.

Lowest Cremonese rating: Okereke – The Nigerian forward was largely ineffectual and touched the ball just 13 times in his 65 minutes on the pitch.

Cremonese coach: Davide Nicola 7.5 – All credit goes to Nicola this evening as the coach set-up perfectly well to counter the Rossoneri and come away from San Siro with an impressive three points.
