Polzin reacts to “successful evening” against Mainz

Here’s the early reaction from the HSV camp following this evening’s emphatic victory.

HSV prevailed 4-0 on a rainy evening in northern Germany, overpowering Mainz thanks to goals from Albert Sambi Lokonga, Jean-Luc Dompé, and a Rayan Philippe brace.

Head coach Merlin Polzin shared his thoughts post game: 

”That was a successful evening for all people who stand by our colors. We are really satisfied with the manner and the result. Together with the stadium behind us, we wanted to show that we are fully there – and that succeeded. If we all go in one direction, we can be successful.”

Argentine midfielder Nicolas Capaldo echoed a similar sentiment: 

”It was a really good game. Already the first action was a goal and that was a game changer. The first two goals open up the game for us and really make anything possible. Everytime we play at home, we have to play like tonight. It was an amazing day.”

HSV head into the international break sitting just inside the top half, looking to rest up before taking their newfound momentum to Leipzig in two weeks’ time.
