Chelsea striker Armando Broja is a sought-after commodity, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Albanian is back from his horrific ACL injury and he has already scored his first goal. The towering centre-forward is highly-rated at Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino has shown a willingness to give the 22-year-old chances in the first team, something that wasn’t always the case under previous regimes.

Indeed, for a long time, Broja had been more of a regular for his country’s senior side than for Chelsea’s. Yet, despite his new role in the team, the truth is that game time could again be hard to come by for him once summer signing Christopher Nkunku returns from his injury.

The Frenchman is ahead of schedule in his recovery and could be a fixture in upcoming matchday squads very soon. Though incredibly versatile and able to feature out wide and in attacking midfield, there are suggestions that Nkunku will become Chelsea’s starting striker.

This would see Broja relegated to third choice – and even fourth if they sign Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney in January – and has given rise to rumours that he could be on his way out in January.

What did Romano say?

Rivals Fulham, in particular, have been linked with Broja as they are yet to adequately replace Aleksandar Mitrovic, who departed for Al-Hilal in the summer. Speaking to CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano has shed light on the Fulham links and the interest in Broja.

“In terms of outgoings, there have also been some stories about Armando Broja and Fulham, with the idea apparently being for Marco Silva’s side to replace Aleksandar Mitrovic, who left for Al-Hilal in the summer.”

“Still, I’m not aware of concrete things for Broja yet. There are many clubs following him since [a] long time in England but also in Italy…but no decision has been made and it will depend also on what happens with Chelsea’s striker search.”
