Tottenham Hotspur have moved quickly to find their replacement for Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked on Friday.

Spurs took the decision to part company with the Australian after a disastrous Premier League campaign that saw them finish 17th. Even winning the Europa League – the biggest honour the club has won in a generation was not enough to save the popular boss.

Now the London club has acted quickly to find a replacement, with a deal to secure Marco Silva as their next boss “almost done”, according to Portuguese source Record.

Marco Silva is presently in charge of Fulham, which is his fourth assignment to an English side after working with Hull City, Watford and Everton.

The Portuguese source reports that he is “very close” to agreeing a move to Spurs and “everything” points to him taking the job.

There are no details revealed regarding the length of his contract or the type of compensation payment that Fulham might demand for their manager.

Marco Silva: Premier League record

Club Year(s) Matches Points per game Win %
Hull City 2017 18 1.17 33.3%
Watford 2017-18 24 1.08 29.2%
Everton 2018-19 53 1.28 35.8%
Fulham 2021-present 114 1.34 37.7%

Marco Silva on Tottenham rumours

The move comes as little surprise as Tottenham were linked with Marco Silva as far back as March.

This prompted the manager to respond to the speculation, stating: “It is a natural situation when the objectives are achieved with good results. When the team plays in a way that recognises quality and that has clearly evolved for players, for the club itself.”

Marco Silva quietly did a very solid job in guiding Fulham to 11th in the Premier League this season, with his work a little overlooked because of the performances of Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Brentford pushing his side into the shade.

He has been in charge of Fulham since July 2021, guiding them into a comfortable mid-table position and picking up 84 victories in 184 matches in charge of the Cottagers.
