Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Newcastle in Carabao Cup

Arsenal entertain Newcastle United in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final tonight.

The Gunners suffered a 1-0 loss to the Magpies in the Premier League earlier this campaign.

They will be aiming to avenge the defeat with a resounding victory at the Emirates Stadium.

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted Line-up:

David Raya has been Arsenal‘s undisputed goalkeeper for the league and European games. He is expected to start in the Carabao Cup semi-final with Neto Cup-tied.

In defence, we expect two changes from the 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League. Jurrien Timber should be reinstated in the right side of the backline after his domestic ban.

Riccardo Calafiori could be given a breather amid his recent injury record. Myles Lewis-Skelly could get the nod on the left side of the Gunners defence tonight.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are set to start in the central defensive positions. Further forward, Thomas Partey could start as the holding midfielder.

Partey played at right-back against the Seagulls, but should move into his familiar role. He could be accompanied by Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in midfield.

Jorginho and Mikel Merino were outpaced by Brighton last weekend. We expect the experienced duo to drop to the substitutes’ bench.

In attack, there will be an enforced change with Ethan Nwaneri injured. Gabriel Martinelli is poised to start on the right wing tonight.

Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard are expected to feature from the centre-forward and left wing positions respectively for the Gunners.

Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-3-3) vs Newcastle: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Odegaard, Rice; Martinelli, Jesus, Trossard.
