The evening’s showpiece match takes place at 5.30pm, as Thomas Frank looks to get hesitant tenure up and rolling when Tottenham host Arne Slot‘s resurgent Liverpool side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Two games then follow on Saturday evening, with Everton taking on Arsenal at Hill Dickinson Stadium before Leeds host Crystal Palace. 

On Sunday, Unai Emery’s rampant Aston Villa side take on Ruben Amorim’s topsy-turvy Manchester United at Villa Park at 4.30pm. Action wraps up on Monday, with Fulham playing Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage.

Arsenal have wobbled ever so slightly in recent weeks, losing at Aston Villa, drawing at 10-man Chelsea and needing two own-goals to see off winless Wolves.

Under these circumstances, a trip to Everton will be a serious test of the Gunners’ mettle and I can see them slipping up again. Despite being a highly efficient unit, there’s just something missing from Mikel Arteta’s side and it makes me doubt their ability to last the course. Everton are a force to be reckoned with this season and I’m backing them to collect a point.

That would allow Manchester City to take full advantage. With Phil Foden now back in form and Erling Haaland relentless, they can be surely only one winner when they take on West Ham at home.

Predicting Aston Villa’s home game against Manchester United is trickier. Even though Villa have won 10 of their last 11 in the league, many of those victories have been by a single goal. Yet it is hard to imagine United keeping Morgan Rogers at bay and he could be the decisive factor in keeping Villa’s unlikely title challenge on course. In north London, meanwhile, I foresee more problems for Thomas Frank’s Tottenham, who are at home to recovering Liverpool.

Elsewhere, I take Brighton to beat Sunderland, Wolves finally to get their first win of the campaign and Newcastle and Chelsea to draw.
