A former Premier League star had a shocking start to life in the Scottish Championship after he saw red less than 20 minutes into his debut at his new club.
The midfielder sealed a reunion with Neil Lennon at Dunfermline earlier this week, joining as a free agent until the end of the season.
The 33-year-old played under the new Pars boss at Celtic between 2011 and 2013, winning two league titles and a Scottish Cup and scoring in the famous Champions League victory over Barcelona in 2012.
Victor Wanyama, who most recently played for MLS side CF Montreal before leaving in January, had a nightmare debut on Saturday.
The ex-Tottenham man was shown a straight red for a handball by referee Iain Snedden after just 19 minutes into his cameo against Ayr United.
Wanyama came off the bench in the 64th minute when he side trailed 1-0. He was ultimately unable to make much of an impression on the game as Dunfermline were two down by the time he was dismissed.

Wanyama played 154 Premier League games, including 69 for Spurs and 85 for Southampton
Ethan Walker added a late third for Ayr to rub salt into the visitors’ wounds, as they went on to win 3-0.
He joined Southampton in 2013 for a reported fee of £12.5million and stayed on the south coast for three years before moving to Tottenham for a four-year stint.
Lennon was last week appointed boss of the struggling Dunfermline for the final seven fixtures of the season with the remit of keeping them in the league.
Chosen by the Pars’ new American-based owners as the man to turn around the club’s fortunes after the disastrous appointment of Michael Tidser, the Northern Irishman was assured he would be backed financially before he committed to the job.
Dunfermline are six points clear of bottom club Airdrieonians and two behind eighth-placed Hamilton.
Meanwhile, Ayr overtook Livingston in third and are poised to fight for promotion to the Scottish Premier League in the playoffs this season.
Wanyama began his professional journey with Belgian club Beerschot AC in 2008. He spent three years with them before moving to Celtic in 2011.
The Kenyan then took a step up to the Premier League to play for Southampton and Tottenham before signing for MLS outfit CF Montreal in 2020.
