A former Premier League star who has been back in the news this week looks unrecognisable in a throwback snap.

The former midfielder, who enjoyed plenty of success in their career, will welcome his third child later this year after it was revealed his girlfriend is pregnant.

Zara Charles was seen in Cheshire on Friday in her first outing since the couple’s baby news was announced, but kept any hint of a baby bump under wraps as she emerged just hours after the news came to light.

The lingerie model, 36, looked radiant as she stepped out in a £355 Bella Freud jumper with a shearling jacket.

Footballers were somewhat infamous for their fashion sense in years gone past, with stars regularly donning now-out-of-date looks out in public and on the field.

In the summer of 2003, Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs took a trip to the barbers that would leave fans talking, walking out with blech blonde hair.

It is of course Giggs, pictured 21 years ago at the age of 29 showing off a perhaps unforgettable look that raised eyebrows at the time.

He was in the midst of his time as a United player, where he lifted 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues and four FA Cups.

After his retirement, the 50-year-old took up coaching before stepping out of the limelight in recent years.

Ryan was arrested in November 2020 on suspicion of two counts of assault against former partner Kate Greville and her sister Emma.

He was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm to Greville, as well as coercive and controlling partner against her and common assault against Emma.

The jury was discharged in August 2022, and Giggs was cleared in July 2023 after the Crown Prosecution Service withdrew charges, with Greville unwilling to give evidence in a re-trial.

In 2011, meanwhile, it came to light that Natasha Lever had an eight-year affair with husband Rhodri’s brother Ryan – who was also married at the time to wife Stacey – which took place over much of his time at United.

This week, however, it was revealed that Giggs would be expecting another child, 18 years after his last.

Insiders claim Ryan’s ex wife Stacey – who divorced him in 2017 – has also given her blessing, as well as their children.
