Southampton are reportedly planning to axe their manager Ivan Juric at the end of the current season after just two months since the Croatian specialist has taken over.

The Saints endure one of the worst-ever seasons with the club rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

They have managed to secure only nine points throughout the entire season, with just two wins and three draws out of 27 games.

Juric was appointed as manager in late-December on an 18-month contract following Russell Martin’s departure from the club.

Another potential exit could mean his second withdrawal during a season after Roma sacked him in November with just 12 games in charge.

However, according to The Sun, the Saints have already chosen Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl as their next boss as the club prepares for their following Championship campaign.

Rohl was reportedly a target since Martin’s exit in November, but negotiations failed over compensation demands.

Furthermore, the Championship side were unwilling to let the German leave on the cheap following their successful start to the season.

However, Sheffield Wednesday currently sit in 13th place in the league table, seven points behind the promotion qualification spots.

Despite a young age for a coaching position, Rohl has considerable experience at top European clubs such as Bayern Munich and Southampton as an assistant manager.

Furthermore, the 35-year-old had a significant role in the Germany national team between 2021 and 2023.

Southampton were able to record just a single Premier League victory since Juric was appointed as manager in a 2-1 win over another relegation candidate Ipswich in February.

Just two days after his arrival, the Croatian said: ‘It will be a very tough job and I know that in history nobody stayed in the Premier League with this situation.

‘But I think there are a lot of good players here. I am optimistic.

‘I saw their mentality and it’s the first step to doing better. I think we can do something exceptional.’
