Manchester City chief Khaldoon Al Mubarak was seen meeting with Donald Trump, leading to several football fans on social media making snide jokes about the club’s ongoing legal battle.
The Premier League champions are currently in the middle of a legal case against the Premier League over 115 alleged breaches of the competition’s financial rules, with a verdict expected soon.
It is perhaps the most high-profile legal case the Premier League has ever seen, and punishments could range hefty fines to points deductions and beyond, should City be found guilty of some of the more serious alleged breaches.
There would also be the prospect of legal action from some of their English top-flight rivals.
Yet with the case ongoing, Al Mubarak was pictured at the White House with President Trump as part of a delegation from the United Arab Emirates ‘demonstrating the long-standing friendship- between the two nations.
‘Tonight, in the White House, I warmly welcomed UAE National Security Advisor H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan to meetings and a dinner with many notable, senior U.S. officials,’ the President wrote on social media, sharing a range of pictures.

‘The evening demonstrated the long-standing ties and bonds of friendship between our countries.
‘UAE and the U.S. have long been partners in the work to bring peace and security to the Middle East and the World.
‘Discussions also included ways for our countries to increase our partnership for the advancing of our economic and technological futures.’
But with Al Mubarak meeting with one of the most powerful men in the world, some fans took to social media to make jokes about City’s on-going legal issues.
City have always strongly refuted any wrongdoing. They are accused of a number of offences over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018 including failing to provide accurate details on player and manager contracts, failing to provide accurate financial information and failing to co-operate with the Premier League’s subsequent investigation.
Many implied that the meeting with Trump could go some way to seeing the charges thrown out.
‘115 charges it’s over,’ wrote one fan.
Another added: ‘After seeing this I don’t think the 115 charges worries me at all,’ with a number of laughing emojis.

And one simply asked : ‘Who says we aren’t winning the 115 charges [?]’
It came as the Abu Dhabi government signed an agreement with Microsoft and Core42 to help further efficiency of government services.
The agreement between the two companies and the Department of Government Empowerment was signed in the presence of Al Mubarak and Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi, and national security advisor.
