Preview: Asian Cup Quarterfinals

Jordan vs. Tajikistan

Mousa Al-Tamari from Montpellier HSC and the Jordan national team have made it to the quarterfinals following an exciting 3-2 victory against Iraq. Al-Tamari has played in three matches during this tournament and scored two goals. Next, Jordan will face Tajikistan, who secured their spot after a penalty shootout win against the United Arab Emirates.

Australia vs. South Korea

PSG’s Kang-in Lee and the Tigers of Asia made it to the quarterfinals in dramatic fashion. South Korea needed a stoppage time goal and a victory on penalty kicks to defeat Saudi Arabia. Lee has appeared in four Asian Cup matches, scoring three goals and adding one assist. South Korea will face Australia, who defeated Indonesia 4-0.

Japan vs. Iran

The Samurai Blue will count on Keito Nakamura of Stade de Reims and Monaco’s Takumi Minamino heading into their matchup against Iran. Japan picked up a 3-1 win over Bahrain, with Nakamura and Minamino playing roles in the contest. Iran advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over Syria on penalty kicks.

Uzbekistan vs. Qatar

RC Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov played a full 90 minutes for Uzbekistan in the 2-1 win over Thailand. The 19-year-old defender has participated in three matches for the White Wolves in the Asian Cup thus far. Qatar advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over Palestine.
