Fabio Grosso insists Sassuolo leave San Siro ‘with our heads held high’ after making Inter suffer for all three points in a 2-1 result.
The Neroverdi made Inter work very hard for the three points at San Siro, keeping it open until the final whistle in a tense defeat.
Federico Dimarco had opened the scoring on a smart Petar Sucic lay-off, while Arijanet Muric kept the scoreline down with a series of saves, until the deflection off Tarik Muharemovic on a Carlos Augusto effort left him stranded.
Substitute Walid Cheddira got them back in the running by completing a give and go with Domenico Berardi.
Grosso saw strong Sassuolo fight against Inter

“We did well today and it was not easy,” Grosso told DAZN Italia.
“It is a team with many new players, we had a rough start to the season, but we’ll continue working to whittle down those errors that didn’t allow us to bring home a result today.
“It’s a pity we leave empty-handed, but we do so with our heads held high.”
Sassuolo have lost three of their four matches so far this season, beating Lazio 1-0 last week, but hope that the fixture list will be less difficult for the next few weeks.
“We’re about to face opponents who are like us aiming for safety in Serie A. We know what our target is, we’re trying to improve and challenge for that position,” added Grosso.
“The midfield for example is completely new, so it will take time to get to know each other. We’ve got to bring quality to the games, grit our teeth and be prepared to suffer under pressure when we are on the ropes.”

The Sassuolo coach was visibly furious with the referee and fourth official at the final whistle.
“If the referee had a little more courage, he could’ve given us something more in the penalty area. We must also learn to make the most of those situations ourselves with a bit of nous. Now our focus turns to the Coppa Italia.”
Sassuolo will play against Como in the Coppa Italia Second Round on Tuesday evening.
