PSG: Five matches that decided the Ligue 1 title

PSG 3-1 Lens, 26th August 2023

Les Parisiens grabbed an important first win of the season back in August against last year’s runners-up Lens. The opening goal would come through new-signing Marco Asensio, before a double from Mbappé on his return to the Parc des Princes would put the result out of sight. It was an important three points which set the tone for Luis Enrique’s side for the rest of the season.

PSG 5-2 Monaco, 24th November 2023

Adi Hütter’s Monaco side had been flying at the start of the season; so much so that when they visited the Parc des Princes in November it was rightly considered a top of the table clash. Yet Luis Enrique’s side were simply too good for their Monégasque opponents, scoring five via Ramos, Mbappé, Dembélé, Vitinha, and Kolo Muani to consolidate their spot at the top of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table.

PSG 3-1 Lille, 10th February 2024

Undoubtedly one of the sternest tests at home this season, Lille had already drawn in the earlier fixture of the season at Stade Pierre Mauroy (1-1) and looked to create more problems as they went ahead early at the Parc des Princes through Yusuf Yazici. Gonçalo Ramos would equalise only several minutes later, before an own goal from Alexsandro would see Les Parisiens go ahead. Kolo Muani would provide a goal on the 80th minute to then seal the deal for Les Parisiens.

PSG 4-1 Lyon, 21st April 2024

Luis Enrique’s side hosted Ligue 1 Uber Eats’ most in form side since the turn of the year shortly following a draining comeback win against Barcelona (4-1) in the Champions League. Yet Les Parisiens raced into a two-goal lead just before the 6th minute thanks to a Matic own goal and a header from Lucas Beraldo. Gonçalo Ramos then scored a brace in between a consolation goal via Ernest Nuamah.

PSG 3-3 Le Havre, 27th April 2024

Les Parisiens came from behind three times to draw at home against a spirited Le Havre side, a point which eventually served to win a historic 12th Ligue 1 title after Sunday’s results. Luka Elsner’s side scored in the 19th minute via Christopher Opéri before Bradley Barcola levelled proceedings. Andre Ayew and a Touré penalty saw the away side go 1-3 up before Achraf Hakimi and an injury time header via Gonçalo Ramos saw Luis Enrique’s go level right at the death.
