Rafael Leao confronted a journalist following AC Milan‘s loss to Roma in the Europa League

The Rossoneris were defeated by their league rivals at the San Siro in the quarter-final first leg on Thursday night. 

Leao had a performance to forget and was taken off after 78 minutes to be replaced by Noah Okafor. 

The Portugal international was walking through the mix zone after the match when he told a journalist: ‘Do your job well.’

Manager Stefano Pioli was asked why he substituted Leao and Christian Pulisic as they chased a crucial equaliser.

‘Pulisic and Leao have confidence. Players like them, even on a difficult evening, can make an important play,’ he said. 

‘I made the changes when I thought it was right.’ 

Leao has been has suffered inconsistency for Milan this season after a super campaign last term. 

The 24-year-old winger has scored just six Serie A goals compared to last season’s tally of 15. 

Gianluca Mancini’s 17th minute header sealed a 1-0 win for Roma to ensure it’s all to play for in the return leg next week. 

Milan, who sit second in Serie A, return to action this weekend when they take on relegation-threatened Sassuolo at San Siro.
