Rangers’ Danny Rohl expects ‘a little crazy’ end to transfer window

Rangers’ Danny Rohl expects ‘a little crazy’ end to transfer window

“Some moments you think you have a yes, then maybe not. But, all in all, I think, at the end of the window, we should have a good number of players.”

Reports have suggested Rangers knocked back offers for winger Djeidi Gassama and striker Youssef Chermiti this week and Rohl believes that is positive for the club.

“I think we will keep our best players,” he said. “We have big goals this season, we are in two competitions and we need our best players. We want to strengthen our squad, not make it weaker.”

Asked whether further signings depended on selling fringe players from the squad, he added: “Not really, but of course we know we have a big squad and this one thing will influence the other.

“This is, of course, a topic, but in general, the new signings will not influence the final decision-making from our side. I think, if we can do something, we will do it.”

With nothing to play for in the Estadio Dragao against a Porto side for whom a win should be enough to finish in the top eight, Rohl says “a clean sheet” is his priority from the game.

Fit-again defender Dujon Sterling and striker Danilo, whose partner is expecting a baby, have not travelled, but centre-half John Souttar and forward Youssef Chermiti are available again.
