The Gers have secured the arrival of their new star striker. After a week-long saga, Sky Germany reports that Hansa Rostock have accepted defeat and agreed to sell Naderi to Rangers.

The Ibrox club have certainly made it worth Hansa’s while. After it was initially agreed that the deal would go through in the summer, reports earlier on Monday revealed that Rangers had “significantly improved” their original €3 million offer to bring the 22-year-old in immediately.

A final decision was still up to the German third-tier club, but they have now greenlit the move. In truth, they would have been foolish not to, as Rangers have shattered the 3. Liga’s transfer record by paying up to €6 million for the forward.

Danny Rohl’s side will shell out €5.5m upfront, with a further €500,000 in bonuses, while Hansa retain a 20 per cent sell-on clause. The previous record deal saw Hendry Blank move from Borussia Dortmund II to RB Salzburg for €4m in 2024.

Rohl gets his man

The report states that Rohl was desperate for this move to go through, having surely paid close attention to Naderi’s exploits this season. The young forward has scored eight goals and provided five assists this term.

Naderi and Rohl both hail from Saxony. The former was born in Dresden and came through the academy of local giants Dynamo, while Rohl was born 90 minutes down the road in Zwickau.

Rohl will have likely played a huge role in Naderi strongly pushing for Hansa to let him pursue a move to Glasgow despite interest from various other clubs. There were even tentative links with Bundesliga sides.

Rangers’ persistence ultimately paid off, and the 22-year-old is set to be unveiled by the club shortly. Given his price tag, there will be huge pressure on Naderi to hit the ground running.
