Rangers Transfer News Today: Russell Martin to sign Liverpool star as HIJACK takes place

Rangers are set to submit an offer for Liverpool left-back Owen Beck as they look to fight off significant competition for his signature.

That is according to Dave Ockop, who has revealed that Sheffield United and Wrexham are also interested in signing Beck this summer.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, while he enjoyed an encouraging loan spell at Dundee during the 2023-24 campaign.

Beck, who is best friends with Liverpool team-mate Conor Bradley, has held preliminary talks over signing a new contract at Anfield, but Rangers are eager to sign him on a permanent deal.

Kwame Poku deal hijacked

QPR have hijacked Rangers’ deal for Kwame Poku after agreeing a compensation fee with Peterborough.

The 23-year-old was expected to bolster Martin’s forward line at Ibrox, after scoring 12 goals in 31 games last season, but he is instead set to stay in England and he is due to undergo a medical at QPR shortly, as per Pete O’Rourke.

Poku is out of contract at the end of June and Rangers were confident of winning the race for his signature on a Bosmal deal. However, QPR have hijacked the move and he is now on the verge of joining Marti Cifuentes’ side.

Aaron Ramsdale told to join

Meanwhile, former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been urged to complete a summer move to Rangers following Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League.

The England international has admitted that Russell Martin played a crucial role in his move to St Mary’s last summer, and Darren Bent has told him to reunite with his ex-Saints boss at Rangers.

When asked if it would be a waste to see Ramsdale leave the Premier League to join Rangers, Bent told talkSPORT: “No, because it’s a huge football club.

“What he won’t want to do is go to a side that could go down again, he doesn’t want that again.

“Going to Rangers, that would be incredible for him, what a move that would be for him.

“He just needs to get back playing now, back in the top level of football, get back playing again.”
