Marcus Rashford’s name has appeared on a list of Manchester United players earmarked for a potential departure this summer.

However, one sticking point for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new part-owner, is the forward’s five-year, £300,000 per week contract.

Given the scale of any operation to sign the England international, there has been a lack of interest in him ahead of the summer transfer window.

It means the Red Devils might struggle to offload their out-of-form frontman this summer with the side requiring a significant rebuild and limited funds available for incomings.

ESPN reports that Rashford’s future is in doubt but that a move to Paris Saint-Germain is not expected with the French champions looking at AC Milan’s Rafael Leao instead.

The 26-year-old inked a new deal last summer, extending his terms until 2028, but has struggled this season to measure up to his mammoth salary.

Rashford has scored only eight goals in 40 appearances across all competitions and was involved in a high-profile spat with manager Erik ten Hag back in January over an ill-advised night out in Belfast.

Ten Hag dropped Rashford from his squad for an FA Cup tie against Newport County but the forward was welcomed back into the lineup shortly after that.

The striker is currently injured after picking up a knock in last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final victory against Coventry City.

Rashford hits back at fans

He hit out at fans criticising his performances this week, taking aim at individuals subjecting him to “abuse” over his indifferent form.

The question of Rashford’s downturn in form was put to Ten Hag in his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s Premier League game against Burnley this weekend.

“That is an interesting question,” the Dutch manager said. “He knows, I know. It has to do with himself but also to do of course with the team. I already said our attacking game has improved a lot after the winter.

“But before winter our attacking game was not good enough. I think it’s always the two factors I mentioned; it’s the team and it’s himself. They are of course related to each other.”

United will need to get rid of players this summer in order to free up salary funds as well as to generate money for new signings.

Man Utd set for summer clearout

The report states that the Old Trafford outfit will be restricted to around £100 million in the market.

Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will be offloaded at the end of their contracts while it’s been reported that Christian Eriksen will have his deal ripped up a year early.

Also on the chopping block are Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire, with that quarter all out of contract in 2025.

Casemiro could move to Saudi Arabia and United are also willing to sell Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek and Mason Greenwood if the right price is offered.
