Rashford offered new Man Utd escape route after Barcelona hitch

Barcelona remain unable to sign Marcus Rashford, which has emboldened Al-Ahli to make a fresh approach for the Manchester United outcast, according to a report.

The Red Devils winger continues to be on the outside looking in under Ruben Amorim. Although Rashford still trains with the side, the relationship with the head coach has reportedly broken down entirely.

Indeed, Amorim seemingly hammered the final nail in Rashford’s Man Utd coffin recently when he said that he would rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach than the England international.

Rashford has fielded interest from several clubs, with his preferred option being Barcelona. However, the LaLiga giants, despite returning to the vaunted 1:1 rule, feel that they first have to offload a player, preferably a winger, before they can make a formal move for the 27-year-old.

The problem is that the man earmarked to leave, Ansu Fati, has so far shown no inclination to depart the club despite not making Hansi Flick’s recent matchday squads.

Al-Ahli pounce on Barcelona’s indecision

Barcelona’s reluctance to move for Rashford has now emboldened Saudi giants Al-Ahli to make a fresh approach for Rashford, according to Ben Jacobs.

The Man Utd winger previously received what has been described as a ‘centrally coordinated’ offer from the Saudi Pro League and rejected the approach as he is determined to remain in Europe’s top-five leagues.

It is thought that Rashford’s stance hasn’t softened despite the new proposal, although with the window drawing to a close and Barcelona seemingly unable to resolve their personnel situation, the Englishman may have to change his mind.

However, that change of heart must come quickly as the Saudi window already closes on January 31 as opposed to the European period, which ends on February 3.

Should no solution be found before Deadline Day, Rashford will have to remain at Old Trafford, but it is difficult to see a way back for him under Amorim.
