Rasmus Hojlund’s value rockets as Man Utd transfer reality becomes clear

Rasmus Hojlund left Manchester United to join Napoli on loan in the summer transfer window, with the Serie A side having an obligation to buy the striker next summer

Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer value has soared once again as he continues to impress during his loan stint away from Manchester United. The Denmark international left the Red Devils to join Napoli on a season-long loan deal, which includes an obligation to buy.

The current Serie A champions have agreed to pay €44million (£38.8million) next summer to United, provided certain conditions are met.

United have already pocketed a €6million (£5.3million) loan fee from Napoli, meaning the total transfer fee could hit €50million (£44.1million) if the permanent move goes through.

Hojlund bid farewell to Old Trafford in the summer after netting 26 goals over two seasons with United, including 10 in the previous campaign. Since wearing the Napoli shirt for the first time, the striker has found the back of the net four times in his first 10 outings.

Whether Hojlund will make a permanent switch to Napoli next summer or return to United remains to be seen.

However, with the forward relishing his time in Italy, his market value seems to have increased in recent months.

The CIES Football Observatory have crunched the numbers and estimated Hojlund’s current market value to be between €79million (£69.7m) and €92million (£81.1m).

This represents a significant hike in Hojlund’s value since the close of last season. In June, the same website placed the striker’s transfer market value at between €59million (£52m) and €76million (£67m).

Napoli are yet to confirm whether they’ll make Rasmus Hojlund’s loan move permanent next summer, leaving his future uncertain. The forward will still have the opportunity to battle for the Serie A title and Champions League glory this season.

Speculation has been rife that United could recall Hojlund in the January transfer window following Benjamin Sesko’s knee injury.

The Slovenia international sustained the injury prior to the international break, with subsequent reports suggesting he could be out of action for up to a month.

At the time of the injury, there were concerns that Sesko could face an even lengthier spell on the sidelines.

This sparked rumours about a potential early return for Hojlund to Old Trafford in January, but this won’t be possible as no such clause was included in the transfer agreement made earlier this year.
