Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to the Champions League campaign after beating RB Leipzig 1-0 on Wednesday night.

The Reds took home all three points from the Red Bull Arena thanks to a first-half strike from Darwin Nunez, who poked home from close range after a Mohamed Salah header.

Arne Slot‘s side were tested late on as Leipzig pressed for an equaliser but the Reds remained resolute to secure an important win.

In doing so, they move joint-top with Aston Villa at the summit of the Champions League table as they continue to impress under the Dutch coach.

Mail Sport’s HENRY CLARK was on hand to provide his player ratings for both sides.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3)

Caoimhin Kelleher – 8

Made a couple of super saves to bail his side out, particularly in the second half when Leipzig’s pressure grew.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

Stepped into midfield to disrupt attacks and performed his defensive duties when called into action.

Ibrahima Konate – 7

A commanding presence in the Liverpool backline. Hardly gave the dangerous Sesko a sniff all night.

Virgil van Dijk – 6.5

Didn’t catch the eye as much as his centre back partner but a typically strong performance from the Dutchman.

Kostas Tsimikas – 6.5

Some promising moments going forward and it was his cross which led to Nunez’s winner.

Ryan Gravenberch – 6

Struggled to dominate the midfield battle but was still able to snuff out Leipzig’s advances when required.

Alexis Mac Allister – 5

Looked a little off the pace as he continues his comeback from injury. Unfairly booked for diving in the first half.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 5.5

Failed to make a mark on his return to Leipzig. A few bright moments in the first half but faded as the game wore on.

Mohamed Salah – 5

A very quiet night by the Egyptian’s high standards. Saw Nunez nick his goal on the line before being hooked for Diaz.

Darwin Nunez – 7.5

A reminder of what he can bring to this team. A handful all night and his goal will be a much-needed confidence boost.

Mohamed Salah provided a neat header for the assist to Nunez but was quiet throughout

Gave Geertruida the run-around but fluffed his lines when he should have scored following a defensive howler.
