RB Leipzig confirm Geertruida departure

Lutsharel Geertruida has officially joined Sunderland on loan.

RB Leipzig have confirmed the Lutsharel Geertruida will spend the rest of the campaign on loan at Sunderland.

“Lutsha proved his great potential several times during his first year at RB Leipzig, even if he had fewer minutes recently. The loan move is therefore a sensible solution for all parties,” said RB Leipzig’s managing director for sport, Marcel Schäfer.

“At AFC Sunderland he can gain experience at the highest level in the Premier League and continue his development. We wish Lutsha every success in England.”

Since his move from Feyenoord in the summer of 2024, the versatile defender has made 35 appearances for the Red Bulls, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
