RB Leipzig are keen to open contract talks with Peter Gulacsi in the coming months, according to Kicker.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper, who has one year remaining on his current deal, continues to be a key figure for Leipzig.

There were doubts about whether Gulacsi would retain his starting spot this season, with Maarten Vandevoordt challenging for the role.

However, he remains the preferred option in goal under new head coach Ole Werner.

“Pete is extremely strong on the line, has a very calm presence, and that also has an effect on the players in front of him,” Werner told Kicker.

“He is also very clear in his communication, which helps his teammates.”

Gulacsi has made a total of 342 appearances for Die Roten Bullen.
