Real Madrid ‘ban’ Trent Alexander-Arnold from bringing prized possession over to the Spanish giants

Real Madrid have banned Trent Alexander-Arnold from taking his prized possession over to Spain after joining the club from Liverpool.

The defender caused uproar among the Reds fanbase when he revealed he would be leaving the club for Spain, with it initially looking like he would be leaving for free after a 20-year stay at his boyhood club. 

Arne Slot‘s side did secure a mega £10million fee from Madrid for Alexander-Arnold to join them early and therefore play in this summer’s Club World Cup.

The right back has agreed to a six-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, which began on Sunday when the transfer window officially opened. Both clubs have confirmed the move.

But there’s one thing from home that he won’t be able to take to his new club in the form of his £130,000 Range Rover that he has been driving around England.

That’s because Madrid have a sponsorship agreement with BMW, which prevents players driving any other cars to the club’s training ground, according to El Motor.

The car manufacturer provides Real Madrid players with cars to use throughout the season, meaning they will hook up Alexander-Arnold with a new whip when he arrives in Spain.

The agreement includes plug-in hybrid and electric models, before they are sold by the manufacturer as pre-owned models.

Alexander-Arnold, who is currently on international duty with England, will still be able to drive an SUV, even though it won’t be the Range Rover he has been used to on Merseyside. The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham have opted for the BMW XM, which costs around £152,000 but will be given to the defender for free.

The 26-year-old’s original car had a 4.4 V8 twin-turbo engine with 530 horsepower and was priced at £130,000, though is now off the market.

It could reach 100kmh in 2.6seconds, but will not be seeing the streets of Madrid.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold’s release clause will be €1billion (£840m).

The eye-watering figure means any prospective suitor looking to snare the 26-year-old from the Bernabeu in the future would need to cough up more than four times the current transfer world record.
