Real Madrid DENY Ancelotti’s transfer demands

Carlo Ancelotti has ‘resigned himself’ to the fact that Real Madrid won’t provide him with January reinforcements, according to Spanish media.

Los Blancos are in the midst of an injury crisis that is threatening to further derail an already disappointing season. Antonio Rudiger and the out-of-favour Jesus Vallejo are the only fit, senior centre-backs at the club after Eder Militao went down with an ACL injury prior to the international break.

Though David Alaba is set to make his comeback from his own ACL tear imminently, he has been out for so long that he won’t be able to cope with playing every fixture of the European champions’ hectic schedule.

As a result, speculation surrounding January reinforcements has been rampant in recent weeks. The likes of Aymeric Laporte and Jonathan Tah have been deemed the most realistic targets, but it seems that Real Madrid will not be dipping into the market.

Real Madrid rule out January deals

At least that is according to Relevo, which reports that manager Carlo Ancelotti has ‘resigned himself’ to the fact that Real Madrid won’t bring in winter reinforcements.

Though a transfer is not entirely ruled out, president Florentino Perez is not keen on dipping into the January market because “the options and, above all, the price to pay for them, do not appeal to the club.”

The Spanish outlet writes that the current injury crisis “does not seem to alter the plans of a board that shows no predisposition to signing in January.” Ancelotti, “as a club man, has not raised his voice or gotten into controversies in press conferences.”

The Italian has accepted the club’s decision and will use midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as a stand-in centre-back once more this season once he has returned to full fitness. The Frenchman is still recovering from an ankle sprain.
