Real Madrid are exploring the possibility of signing Arsenal defender William Saliba in the long term, according to The Athletic.
The Frenchman has been a revelation for the Gunners since his debut in 2022 and he is presently one of the best centre-backs.
Saliba’s current deal expires in the summer of 2027 and as things stand, the club are yet to negotiate terms over a renewal.
Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation. If Saliba does not renew, they could attempt to sign him for a discounted fee next year.
Otherwise, the club are also open to a free transfer in July 2027.
The 24-year-old has yet to give any indication that he would like to leave Arsenal.
The Gunners are his boyhood club and the hierarchy will be determined to prolong his stay with fresh terms over the coming weeks.
Arsenal take on Brentford in the Premier League this weekend.
They will then face Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final. The club have a 3-0 advantage from the first leg.
