Several sources have linked Nico Schlotterbeck with Real Madrid – but could the Galacticos be eyeing up another Bundesliga defender?

Now, fussballdaten.de are suggesting that RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba could be set to swap Saxony for the Spanish capital.

The French defender, who joined from Olympique Lyon for €31.7million in 2023, has become a mainstay in Leipzig’s rearguard.

Lukeba has since gone on to make exactly 90 appearances for Leipzig since then, providing two goals and an assist in that time.

Solely focusing on this season, the 23-year-old has played his part in keeping 8 clean sheets in his 18 games across all competitions.

With BVB’s Schlotterbeck delaying his decision and Dayot Upamecano extending his contract at Bayern, Lukeba may be Madrid’s next target.

One thing is clear – the La Liga giants are desperate to replace David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger who are now seen as surplus to requirements.
