Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes makes public response to speculation

Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo Goes has promised a swift return to action, following three straight absences for Los Blancos. The Brazilian is also the centre of plenty of speculation over his future.

Rodrygo missed Los Blancos’ penultimate game against Celta Vigo with a fever, and sat out El Clasico again too. That is despite Carlo Ancelotti declaring him fit just 24 hours before, alleging again that he was unwell. On Tuesday, Rodrygo then limped out of training with a muscle injury, and will miss their game against RCD Mallorca.

Rumours over Rodrygo’s El Clasico absence

Youngster Victor Munoz ended up replacing Vinicius Junior during El Clasico, with Rodrygo not even warming up on Sunday. There had been several outlets reporting that Rodrygo had told Ancelotti that he did not feel in the right place mentally to play against Barcelona.

On Tuesday, Ancelotti again defended his star forward, claiming that he was frustrated, but purely down to his fitness issues, and not being able to find his best form. On Wednesday, Rodrygo took to social media to deny rumours.

“Thank you for all the messages and concern. I will be back soon. Stop making things up,” he said on Twitter/X, accompanied by a picture of his legs.

He could well have been referring to the talk surrounding his future too. The latest coming out of the Spanish capital is that Rodrygo is considering an exit from Real Madrid, and Los Blancos are happy to consider a transfer for the 24-year-old. The final tipping point will likely be Xabi Alonso, who will have to discuss his role with  Rodrygo, and where he sees him fitting into his new look Real Madrid side. Recent years have seen Rodrygo moved to the right side, in order to accommodate first Vinicius Junior and then Kylian Mbappe, with a clear difference in performance.
