Recap: OL Stage Comeback Win Over Toulouse

Lyon’s attack benefited from the return of Alexandre Lacazette to the starting lineup as they recorded 11 total shots in the first half. The veteran striker also handed OL the advantage heading into the dressing room after scoring in the 33rd minute. 

Despite facing a 1-0 deficit, Carles Martínez Novell and his team’s offense saw an uptick in the second half. Toulouse recorded four shots on target, leading to two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 lead. 

The first goal came from Thijs Dallinga, who scored in the 53rd minute to level the contest. Six minutes later, Vincent Sierro scored on a penalty kick to allow Les Violets to take the advantage early in the second half. 

Pierre Sage and his team responded with a game-tying goal as Rayan Cherki came off the bench to score in the 77th minute to level the match. Les Gones took the lead late in the contest off a corner kick with a headed goal by Jake O’Brien in the 81st minute securing the win.

OL’s victory against Toulouse means they have won eight out of their last nine games in all competitions. Lyon will aim to continue their impressive form when they host Stade de Reims at Groupama Stadium after the international break.

As for Toulouse, they’ll look to snap their two-game losing streak when they travel to the Stade Gabriel-Montpied for a match against Clermont Foot in a fortnight.
