Renato Veiga admits there were ‘many factors’ leading to his Juventus exit in the summer after a six-month loan spell: ‘I’m happy with what they gave me.’

Veiga will reunite with his former club Juventus tomorrow in a Champions League match between Villarreal and the Bianconeri.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Veiga said (via TMW): “Juventus are always Juventus, but we are focused on ourselves only, and we are ready for tomorrow as we aim for the first victory in the Champions League [this season].”

Veiga spent the second part of the 2024-25 season on loan at Juventus from Chelsea, but the Bianconeri didn’t make his loan move permanent at the end of the campaign.

The Portuguese returned to Stamford Bridge before the Club World Cup and then joined Villarreal on a permanent transfer exceeding €24m.

Veiga, however, insisted he was not disappointed by Juventus’ decision not to retain him.

“No, there were many factors. I’m happy to be here, in a club with great history, and I’m happy with what Juventus gave me,” he said.

“I know all of them [Juventus players] well, but we want to do things well. I’m focused on my team; we want to play a great game.”

Veiga has made seven appearances across all competitions with Villarreal this term.

The versatile 22-year-old defender played 15 games across all competitions with Juventus last season, providing one assist.

Juventus have travelled to Spain without the injured Gleison Bremer and Khephren Thuram.
