Tommaso Baldanzi limped off with a knee injury, but the Roma and Italy midfielder will be able to continue his European Under-21 Championship journey.

He scored the winning goal for the opening game of the tournament against Romania, then also started the 1-0 victory over hosts Slovakia.

However, he was injured by a rough tackle from behind that saw him limp off clutching his knee in the second half of that match.

Baldanzi given all clear for Azzurrini

According to Il Tempo and La Gazzetta dello Sport, tests have shown there is no lesion to the knee ligaments.

The only treatment required for Baldanzi will be rest for a few days and physiotherapy.

It remains to be seen if Baldanzi will be risked in the third group game against Spain, seeing as both teams have already secured their place in the quarter-finals.

That match will be a head-to-head for top spot in the group on Tuesday evening, although it ultimately will make little real difference in their progress.
