Report: Bayern accept €60 million United double-offer for Mazraoui and de Ligt

Online sports journal “the Athletic” reports that FC Bayern München and Manchester United have reached a breakthrough on the mega-deal that will send defender Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from the German record champions to the English Red Devils. 

After an initial offer for the two players was rejected, it now appears as if a mega-deal to send FC Bayern München defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to Manchester United will go through. Reports that the two sides had reached an agreement began surfacing in various German footballing media sources yesterday. Now, online sports journal “the Athletic” is confirming the reports. 

Bayern have reportedly accepted a €45 million offer for de Ligt. A further €5 million can flow into the FCB coffers if the Dutchman reaches certain performance-based incentives. Mazraoui will fetch a base-transfer-fee of €15 million with an additional €5 million in bonuses built into the deal. Bayern will initially collect €60 million in much-needed inlays. 

Whether or not de Ligt’s sale will lead to Jonathan Tah moving to the Bavaria remains to be seen. It has been reported that Tah’s move to Bayern hinged on de Ligt’s sale. There have nevertheless been conflicting reports over the last few days as to whether Bayern still want Tah. Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid and the country’s preeminent footballing publication are at odds as to whether a deal could still take place.
