Report ex-Juventus and Roma midfielder Pjanic has decided to retire at 35 – Football Italia

Former Roma and Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has reportedly decided to call it a day on his playing career at the age of 35, shortly after rumours of a potential return to the Allianz Stadium were quashed.

According to reports from TMW, Pjanic has decided to retire from playing competitive football career and is currently studying to become an agent. The former Bosnia international is yet to comment publicly. 

Pjanic has been without a club since the end of the 2024-25 season after a season-long spell in Russia with CSKA Moscow. 

There had recently been rumours that he was planning a return to Juventus in some capacity after pictures of him at the club’s training ground emerged online, but as Football Italia expert Alfredo Pedullà explained, this was purely to catch up with old friends and colleagues. 

Pjanic racked 780 competitive appearances for club and county over the course of his career, with 665 outings at club level and 115 caps for Bosnia. 

The prime years of his career were spent in Serie A: Five years with Roma between 2011 and 2016, where he made185 appearances and scored 30 goals, and a further four seasons with Juventus until 2020, where he made a further 178 appearances across all competitions, scoring 22 times.
