In a shock report, La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli told coach Thiago Motta he was ‘ashamed at having chosen you’ for the job.

Multiple sources state that the decision has been made, with Sportitalia director Alfredo Pedullá claiming this afternoon that Juve have already informed Motta by telephone that he is sacked.

Motta is currently in Portugal for time with his family during the break for international duty, with Igor Tudor expected in Turin this evening to take over.

Director Giuntoli had publicly backed Motta just minutes after the 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina, but the situation deteriorated over the last week.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the face to face meeting with Motta and chief Maurizio Scanavino went so badly that Giuntoli even said: “I am ashamed at having chosen you.”

It might’ve been an attempt to push Motta into tending his resignation, therefore saving money that Juventus will otherwise have to shell out in order to fire their coach just eight months into the job.
