Kicker reports that despite being fit and available, Leon Goretzka will not be in Bayern Munich’s squad for Friday night’s DFB-Pokal game against SSV Ulm.

Vincent Kompany has decided to leave Leon Goretzka out of the squad for his first competitive game as Bayern Munich coach.

That’s according to Kicker, who reports that although the central midfielder is fully fit, he will not be in the squad to face SSV Ulm in the DFB-Pokal on Friday.

The decision adds fuel to recent reports that Goretzka is not a big part of Bayern’s plans for the new season.

Despite the bad news, Goretzka is still adamant that he wants to stay at Bayern this summer, according to Sky Germany.

He faces competition from Joao Palhinha, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer in the middle of the park.
