According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, while Fabio Paratici remains the favourite, there are still six candidates to be the new Milan director of sport.

A decision is not expected until next month, though they cannot delay too long, as whoever is appointed will need to soon start work on their transfer strategy for the summer.

Former Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur chief Paratici is the figure most expected to get the nod, especially after a lengthy meeting with director Giorgio Furlani.

Ex-Lazio man Igli Tare is next in line, while Atalanta chief Tony D’Amico has also been mentioned several times.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport expands the field to a total of six candidates still in the running for Milan, noting that those with Serie A experience already under their belts are more likely to top the list.

Thiago Scuro is currently the director general of AS Monaco and the Brazilian is an outside option.

Eintracht Frankfurt transfer chief Markus Krösche just hit the headlines recently for selling Omar Marmoush to Manchester City for €75m, just 18 months after picking him up as a free agent.

The most surprising candidate is Kim Falkenberg, who is only 36 years old and went from player to director at Bayer Leverkusen with remarkable ease.

He was only promoted to director of sport recently, after being their chief scout.
