Reports in Italy claim that Milan now have an agreement in place with Young Boys for the signing of right-back Zachary Athekame, who is expected to follow Ardon Jashari to San Siro.

Milan have been on the search for a new right-back after deciding against a permanent deal for 2025 loanee Kyle Walker and after selling former Tottenham full-back Emerson Royal to Flamengo in a permanent deal earlier this summer.

The hunt for a new defender took the Rossoneri to Switzerland, specifically to Bern for Switzerland youth international Athekame.

According to reports from Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan have now reached an agreement with Young Boys for a total package in the region of €9m.

This comes after an initial bid of €7m was turned down by the selling party last week.

The reported deal for Athekame comes the day after Milan struck an agreement for his compatriot Ardon Jashari, who has since arrived in Italy and begun his medical tests with the Rossoneri ahead of a €37m move from Club Brugge.

They add to a busy summer transfer window for Massimiliano Allegri and his team, who have also brought in former Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, Italy international Samuele Ricci, former Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan and back-up goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano.
