Report: Müller on the brink of joining Vancouver Whitecaps
By Ultan Corcoran@UltanCorcoran

Thomas Müller is inching closer to an MLS move.

According to GiveMeSport and Transfermarkt.de, a solution has been reached allowing Thomas Müller to join Vancouver Whitecaps.

FC Cincinnati will receive $400,000 GAM (General Allocation Money) from the Whitecaps for the initial discovery rights for Müller.

In the MLS, every club has the exclusive right to negotiate with certain international players—thus the “discovery right” can be traded within the league.

While the German won’t receive a Designated Player spot with the Canadian club until the current season’s end, he will have one starting in 2026.

Thus, the Canadians have convinced the 35-year-old to move as a Designated Player, so Müller can be paid outside the salary cap and thus significantly better.

Just finer details remain to be ironed out between the Whitecaps and Müller, with a contract agreement in the final stages.
